²⁰ But you have an anointing^(A) from the Holy One,^(B) and all of you know the truth.^[a](C)

²⁷ As for you, the anointing^(A) you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things^(B) and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.^(C)

¹³ while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse,^(A) deceiving and being deceived.^{(B) 14} But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,^{(C) 15} and how from infancy^(D) you have known the Holy Scriptures,^(E) which are able to make you wise^(F) for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All Scripture is God-breathed^(G) and is useful for teaching,^(H) rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,^{(I) 17} so that the servant of God^[a](J) may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.^(K)

4 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead,^(L) and in view of his appearing^(M) and his kingdom, I give you this charge:^{(N) 2} Preach^(O) the word;^(P) be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke^(Q) and encourage^(R)—with great patience and careful instruction.
